Jorge Rocha (CIBIO-InBIO/UP) | April 11, 2014 | 14h30 | CIBIO’s Auditorium, Campus de Vairão

I am presently leading the "Human Evolutionary Genetics" group at CIBIO-InBIO. My major research interest is to reconstruct the evolutionary history underlying current patterns of variation in human genes and populations. As part of my special interest in the peopling of southern Africa, which remains one of the most outstanding questions of Africa's pre-history, I am presently leading an interdisciplinary project on various aspects of human and cattle variation in southern Angola, which includes the analysis of different types of genetic and linguistic data.
In my talk I will present an overview of this project and discuss some of its preliminary results.
