BIODIV is a 3rd cycle graduate programme that includes a curricular year, followed by three years of research corresponding to the PhD project and dissertation.
The programme thus develops over 4 years (8 semesters) accounting for a total of 240 ECTS.

The programme’s official language is English.
Students are integrated in PhD research projects under specific themes to be selected during the first year of the programme in accordance with the students' interest and guided by the Directive Board.
BIODIV's Directive Board assures that the supervisors are active researchers with excellent productivity and with an history of advanced training experience.
BIODIV students can enroll in the ongoing projects in the research units with an extremely broad range of methods, theoretical approaches and applications (see further information at CIBIO-InBIO and cE3c).
In the first year of the Programme, students can take advantage of the logistic conditions available at both universities (Porto and Lisbon). During the following three years, students can use facilities and benefit from scientific expertise in different research units from both universities and from collaborations around the world.
